Is Swine Flu really dangerous?

Today, Swine Flu / Influenza A (H1N1) become a hot topic, why? Because this disease have attack some countries and in any countries there are a victim that being die or death. Praise The Lord this disease doesn’t come to my country.

What is swine flu?

Influenza (flu) that suffered by pig affected people who had direct contact with that pig. This is occurring in the past. Actually this disease doesn't infect people. This is a rare case.

And now these diseases spread from person to person make an outbreak in the world. It happened and affects people that have no contact with pig.

What are swine flu symptoms?

Just only like common flu could be a fever, cough, headache, fatigue, sore throat, chills.
There are diarrhoea and vomiting sometimes. So we or our doctor don't know this disease until get some lab test. With this test can be known it is a swine flu or others.


How will we know it or someone have infected by swine flu?

Be careful if someone have influenza and after went from a high risk area such as Mexico, USA, Canada, Japan . This people must have a test for screening, is he true infected by swine flu or not.

How does swine flu spread?

This disease spread like common flu. We infected if we touch something that the infected person recently touched. Or this virus can directly infect person who is near with the infected person. This virus can come into mouth or nose.

Until this time (22 May 2009) according to World Health Organization's web site, there are 42 countries report these cases. Totally there are 11.168 cases and 86 among those deaths.
Countries with many cases is USA with 5764 cases (9 deaths), Mexico with 3892 cases (75 deaths), Canada with 719 cases (1 deaths), Japan with 294 cases (0 deaths), Spain and United Kingdom with 113 cases (0 deaths). In Asia influenza A (HINI) spread in Japan, China, India, Thailand and Malaysia, I pray to lord till this virus don't come to my country (Indonesia). But don't worry if we find a lot of cases that have reported cause some of them only a suspect, and need to wait lab test result.

How is swine flu treated?

This disease is caused by virus, so need antiviral drugs. The recommends drugs are Tamiflu and Relenza. This drug was effective if taken within 48 hours of the start of flu symptoms. In some cases in the US report that many people with lab confirmed swine flu recovered without any treatment.

Until now there is no Vaccine for swine flu.

Last Question is: Why in some country this disease become a killer when there are many deaths cases and in another country there are no one deaths or being recovered. Many experts can't answer this question and only said Unpredictable case! Just Pray!
